Jarnsaxa escapes the Hei Shui Corporation and finds a world harsher than she expected. She meets Nikea and Rocola, learns what humans can be, and is given an unusual weapon. Sif and Eric escape to the unknown, and Heimdall shows Thor how disastrous his mission to find Jarnsaxa could be.

In September of 1944, Jarnsaxa meets mysterious strangers whose plane crashes on her island. She hopes they might release her from her witch bottle, and let her escape. When she finds their agenda is more bellicose and cruel than she could imagine, she takes strides to correct them.

Jarnsaxa and Loki infiltrate the Hei Shui corporation, using the bodies of Bachman and Eric. They set out to destroy Balder and claim Eric's son, but familiar voices in the corporation distract them. Eric wakes in the realm of the dwarves and meets Sif; they learn they have Loki's treachery in common. Thor sets out on another mission for Odin, but Heimdall suspects deep treachery.
